National library of the Republic of Belarus, Minsk
Automated software-managed transportation system is intended for address delivery of following documents: books, magazines, low-format newspapers, files of low-format newspapers, audio and video information holders.

THE STRUCTURE OF TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
- Monorail course with supports.
- All-purpose rail transportation system.
- Operator’s receiving-departure stations – 28 pcs.
- Automatic fireproof doors.
As a mechanical basis of aluminium monorail used.
The basic components of the system are self-moving containers, sliding rails, drop-cables, branch points and switching gates. The rails aluminium structure contains in the complete set contact trolleys for pressure submission. Three self-cleared sliding contacts of the container provide reliable submission of feed and operating signal.

THE MOTION CONTROL SYSTEM carries out:
- address transportation and the control over movement of containers with documentation;
- conducting statistics of moving of containers;
- visualization and graphic representation of work of the system as a whole;
- light and sound notification about arrival of the container to transmitting and receiving station;
- management of the coordinated work of all static elements of transportation system: fireproof doors, arrows-switches, panels of receiving-departure stations operators;
- reception of operating messages from fire detection system and control of fire doors and system as a whole according to the accepted message;
- configuration and adjustment of the control system according to changes of topology of transportation system.
The Control system consists of 3 functional levels:
- Top functional level – management, control and visualization of work of all transportation system, statistical information acquisition and display.
- Medium functional level – management of containers and stationary elements of the initial functional level.
- Initial functional level – execution of commands by transport containers, movement switches, fireproof doors, input-and-output devices, devices of pressure submission and also by panels of operators.
Hardware base of the top functional level are two camera stations. Camera stations are realized on high-efficiency industrial personal computers Simatic PC from Siemens AG. The volume of a hard disk allows to store operative data for the period not less than one year.
As basic software of the control system’s top level acts SCADA system WinCC from Siemens AG. The open system of visualization allows easily and simply integrate the camera interface into created or already existing systems of technological management.
Hardware base of the medium level are PLC SIMATIC S7-300 connected among themselves and also with top functional level by industrial network Ethernet.
The software of local management of controllers is the standard software delivered with programmed controllers SIMATIC S7-300 packages STEP 7 or SCL, and specially developed for maintenance of functionality application software.
Technical equipment of the initial level includes:
- containers;
- selectors of movement direction;
- fireproof doors;
- power supply 24 V.
The elements of the initial functional level are +24V power units, installed along transport system’s lines. They are turned on distantly from the control system’s PLC.
Submission of the pressure is carried out through trolleys:
- two busbars: +24V and 0V;
- third busbar is informational.
TRANSMITING AND RECEIVING STATIONS are used for reception and sending of documents and are installed on terminal points of delivery.
28 stations and 3 empty containers storehouses are used In the present transportation system.
Two types of transmitting and receiving stations are applied:
- standard stations intended for reception of 3 containers;
- circular stations intended for reception of 7 containers.
Each station is completed by the operator’s control desk of the station.
The control desk represents operator’s panel from Siemens. Through industrial network PROFIBUS DP it is connected to corresponding controller of local management.
The terminal is supplied with the sound device and the light signal system to let know the operator about arrival of new containers.
AUTOMATIC FIREPROOF DOORS. According to the existing in the Republic of Belarus norms the building of the National Library is divided on fire-prevention section. Sections are separated by fireproof walls with prescribed limit. Automatic fireproof doors provide protection against transfer of ignition from one section to another through technological apertures of transportatation system. The command on necessary manipulation with fireproof doors is carried out automatically from local management controller.
he automated transport system of the National library is in operation since June, 2006 and carries out all the technological modes set at its designing. The project is realized in cooperation with the companies MINSKPROJECT
